thomas x martha

so... this drawing takes place when he just came back home after the 2nd continental congress (the one that ratified the Declaration of Independance), a congress he wanted, in fact, to leave as soon as possible, because a congress during which Martha had a miscarriage and stayed into bed during weeks, too weak and ill *away from him*

It's Thomas and Martha Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson was one of the authors of the American Declaration of Independence and the third president of the United states who had a beautiful and tragic love story with his wife (Which these pictures have made me aware of. So lovely and sad!)
