Queen of England by nami64 Queen of England by nami64
i fell in love with this picture and i had to use it as reference. so TADA!

-
" Elizabeth of York was queen consort of England from 1486 until 1503.
Henry Tudor and Elizabeth married on 18 January 1486 and she was crowned queen on 25 November 1487.
Despite being a political arrangement at first, the marriage proved successful, and both partners appear to have grown to love each other."

-
I picture this scene just the night after her coronation... where their hearts and ambitions to both are satisfied, and where Bess is *only* wearing her coronation cape.
((in my headcanon, 1487 is a pivotal year in their relationship: just one year after the birth of their little Prince and the year where a pretender claiming the throne appeared as well. i think that during the campaign against him, away from his Queen and son, Henry realized he had feelings for Elizabeth, their new family and that he could trust her. The coronation came indeed very soon after his victory. "Hey Bess, I realized that I trust and love you? Do you want a crown?" "Oh Henry! I am filled with happiness! Let's conceive more Princes and Princesses!"

...why are history classes no more like that?))

Super, super cute!
I studied Henry VII and EoY in school but now with the arrival of The White Princess on TV next week I'm so excited to see this play out.
They are one of my favourite historic couples, along with Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

I love this picture, normally I don't like pictures that show lot of skin, but this one instead of looking full of sexuality, looks more like cute and adorable. Love it!

Excellent to see a version of the relationship of Henry Tudor and his queen which is based on historical accuracy, NOT romanticized Yorkist propaganda.

So many authors have this embarrassing tendency to portray Richard III as a hero - and incest as somehow acceptable........

ugh EXACTLY!! it is so hard to find good historical fictions where Elizabeth is not in love with her uncle and where Henry is not a cold & awful huband...

I love this! Your artwork is so, so beautiful!! You have interpreted two of my favorite historical couples (the other being Thomas and Martha Jefferson). HVII and EOY really had such a nice love story- a political marriage that turned into a loving and supportive partnership. It really is so romantic and I hate how fiction treats them most of the time. I think some of these authors are obsessed/in love with Richard III (I'm a Tudorist all the way) and just have to make Henry VII look as bad as possible, ugh (like her who shall not be named but her initials are PG). I wish I could find more positive works about them. Thanks for posting these!

Thanks for sharing that! I'm happy to see it exists. There really does need to be more positive things about them about them, it really is amazing to see a political marriage turn into such a nice love story. With the right author (who isn't in love with Richard III) it could be a great novel. I was thinking of writing one myself awhile back but didn't have the time or motivation sadly. Worse or just as bad as PG White Princess is a book by an author called Sandra Worth, King's Daughter of something like that. She does the same thing-she makes Richard III look perfect, saying he saved the Princes and hid them and what a wonderful man he was, over and over (the author is clearly so in love with him) and Henry VII look disgusting. She even makes him want to divorce EOY for Perkin Warbeck's wife! Where oh where did she ever get that from? I have only read that he was kind to her. She was highborn and and in a bad situation so he made her a lady in waiting to his wife. NOT a mistress.  I threw it in the garbage. I've read Allison Weir's biography-very good.

historical fictions are so unfair with them. biographies by historians are the only good books about them.
there is this current thing that is trying to turn RIII into a romantical hero and so, they need vilains: usually H7 and his mother or Elizabeth Woodville. personally, i am not a fan of RIII but i don't hate him neither. he was just a product of his time, just like Henry.
and yes, Henry never had mistress and ELizabeth has never been in love with her uncle *JESUS* THIS MARRIAGE HAS SUCH POTENTILA FOR A GREAT AND EPIC LOVE STORY TALE but noooooooooo.... i will never have it :( so i read biographies

I just read a book called Mistress of Mourning by Karen Harper. It is not that great of a book (a murder mystery about Prince Arthur, but I mostly skimmed through to read the parts about HenryVII/EOY. The author portrays the marriage pretty accurately, that they do love each other and that he has been kind to her. There is a reference to him liking to sleep spoon position when he spends the night in her chamber with her. I thought that was cute. Didn't like the ending at all but at least it is a fictional book about them that does portray the marriage in a positive light. Most of the stuff out there about them is ugh. There is a another book someone told me about, the Dragon and the Rose I believe it's called, which I found used but haven't read yet. I heard it is not that much of a romance though. Ugh, I should just try to publish my own. So glad to have found your artwork on them!

oh i need to read this book then! for once that a historical novel depicts them fairly :) i should give it a try!
and i read The Dragon and The Rose and you'r right, it's not a romance at all. i think that Henry' s portrait is accurate but it is mainly about him. Elizabeth appeared just at the marriage and we see the onlt first months of their relationship. it was a political match after all. i don't believe in fairy tales and love at first sight, so their first months together probably was as depicted in the book. But slowly Henry started to trust her and to fall in love, after Arthru's birth and before her coronation (which is for me pretty accurate) and then... THE BOOK STOPPED! so when it was starting to be a romance, it's over! ARGH!!!
so yeah, a weird book. pleasant if you like Henry but awful, if you want romance :)

I disliked the ending of it (didnt like what was implied at all) and the book wasn't great overall  but there are some nice scenes between the couple and references to the happy marriage it has been. The author doesnt seem to be a Ricard fangirl but she's prob not a Tudor lover either. I'm just sick of all this recent Richard III hero worship to the point of making him a romantic figure to his NIECE.
Yeah I was disappointed to hear The Dragon and the Rose it's not a romance like the cover portrays :(. Oh well, better than Philippa Gregory. At any rate, the evidence shows to me that Henry adored Elizabeth (and vice versa) and more authors should be fair to them.
