anticipation

... and between parted and greedy lips, she whispered:
"Join me in my room tonight, Tom."
Slowly, the gentleman moved back, his ice grey stare travelling from her eyes to her mouth then back to her eyes... During these few seconds, Martha caught glimpses of so many things on his face: confusion, desire, dilemma, resignation and control, or even anticipation for what could happen if he followed her request. As an indisputable traitor his freckles turned red.
"You are going to marry me, aren't you?" she asked, already knowing the answer.
"How can you have any doubt Patty? You will be my wife."
"So come to me tonight," she purred once more against his lips, sliding her hand under the thin fabric of his waistcoast. A cruel child playing with a rag doll! They both knew the capitulation was close.
"If your father learns about that, he will want to annihilate me..."
"But it would definitely be worth it," the lady concluded her plea as she kissed him victoriously, " so... please, come tonight."
